Jun-13-05  aw1988: Lasker uses the Lasker variation in the Petroff.
Jun-13-05  Kangaroo: <<aw1988>: Lasker uses the Lasker variation in the Petroff.> Try to enjoy this one, also played by Lasker!

Lasker vs Marshall, 1914

Jun-13-05  Gregor Samsa Mendel: It was even played in the same city.
Jun-13-05  Kangaroo: Not at the same time ...
(Responding to) <<Gregor Samsa Mendel>: It was even played in the same city.>
Jun-13-05  Gregor Samsa Mendel: No indeed, they were played almost 20 years apart. Pretty impressive that the same person was world champion for that entire time. And he sure didn't play like a wimpy old geezer in the later game.
Jun-13-05  Kangaroo: To <Gregor Samsa Mendel>.

It is not too late to start discovering the second world champion and his impressive contributions into our game.

By the way, during his championship, Lasker was treated by many opponents and chess journalists similar to what we can now see and hear about Kramnik and even (wow!) Kasparov.

People were sure that Lasker was NOT the strongest since 1895 till 1914, and he had to prove his strength zillion times!

That looks drawn to me.
