Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-12-09  Whitehat1963: Well-played by the Player of the Day, but I have a strong feeling black made some blunders here.
Jul-30-17  clement41: Black, who is notorious for having allowed Fischer a nasty mate in Tunisia, trusted white in finding after 44...Kxh7, 45 Rg6!! (the only move but a crushing one)
Jan-10-23  jerseybob: <Whitehat1963: ...I have a strong feeling black made some blunders here.> Black's main blunder lay in not realizing white's intentions. Unlike some players who play 1.c4 with the intent of transposing to a q-pawn opening, Donald Byrne was an English player all the way. He and Botvinnik had the same pet line: play Nge2 and push the f-pawn. To me, 1..g6 is a more fluid choice. But if you must play the 1..Nf6 move order, pay attention to the f-pawn!
