  tpstar: <ConLaMismaMano> ChessBase 8.0 confirms this gamescore and result (except for the transposition 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. d4 cd 5. Nxd4 a6). Note 28. Rg3! Bxd1? 29. Qh6 Rg8 30. Qxh7+! Kxh7 31. Rh3+ mates, but after 28 ... Bh5! 29. Qxh5 Qxf5 covers h7 while hitting c2. This explains 29. Rf1 defending the Pf5 while still planning Qxh5 & Qh6 soon. Brilliant game.
Dec-11-06  PawnHanger82: One of Mecking's finest moments... still he is among the handful of Brilliant GMs who are overlooked...
Nov-16-09  feitang: Great game by mecking!
Jul-05-15  ToTheDeath: Great attack. Mecking was really something special.
Dec-08-16  Pedro.Akcio: Playing the Najdorf agains Najdorf and winning is quite an achievment.

NM JRousselle: Mecking is hardly overlooked. He was a world class player when illness struck him. It's difficult to get to the candidates level and be overlooked.
