Dec-14-04  InspiredByMorphy: Incredible game by Marshall! 20.Nxg7! is quite a move.
Dec-14-04  azaris: 25...Qg4 is met by 26. Qxg4+ Nxg4 27. Rg3 winning the knight. Conclusion: when Marshall played Qg3, it was reason to be very, very afraid.

Phony Benoni: Anthony Santaserie, annotating the game in <American Chess Bulletin>, 1942, .p. 33"

<"My table was next to Frank's, and just before he made his first move, I leaned over to him, and whispered--(one romantic to another)--"Play Anderssen's Opening!"

Marshall looked very much interested--the prospect was in fact intriguing--but he smiled and said--'I don't know it.'

I said 'Oh yes you do! P-QR3.' and lo and behold, on the third move he played P-QR3!I said, 'I told you so!' And the spectators laughed.">

Chess was so much fun before we started taking it seriously.
