An Englishman: Good Evening: you have to love hypermodern chess in the Classical Defense to the Ruy Lopez. White's play was way too cautious early, and then he overextends himself with the c3, d4, e4 pawn center. After Steinitz forces Maroczy to "castle into it," it's a simple matter of blasting open the center.

keypusher: Maroczy's opening looks like Steinitz on a very bad day, funnily enough. This was the only game Maroczy lost in the tournament, despite the presence of all the top players in the world.
Oct-13-07  hovik2003: Maroczy 10.Nf1 is a kind of move with no logic behind it and looks childish. Now I now all that talk about Chessmetric's system of rating being rubbish is true.

Maroczy made a bad move, therefore chessmetrics is rubbish? I don't follow. Explain yourself, sir!
