Aug-30-07  wolfmaster: Some say that Smyslov was in his prime in 1946.
Sep-19-09  King.Arthur.Brazil: Is curious that instead of natural 21.d4 closing the BB throughhis P, white open diags for his WB with 21.c4! 22...Ng8 avoids Nh5+ Nf6 mate combination. also 24/25 B moves is to avoid Txe6 combination. After h4, h5 is on the line, so B change everything! Guess that 31.Qc6 was more strong since it provides c5! And this 2 P are decisive. Smyslov give many trials to KOTOV.

plang: Kotov may have thought that 9..Nd4 prevented the exchange of dark square bishops but 10..Bxh6 11 Qxh6..Nxc2 12 Rac1,,Nd4 13 Qg7..Rg8 14 Qxh7 would have been strong for White. 16..Nc6? was an error losing time; Smyslov recommended 16..d4. A typical Smslov game; no brilliant moves but many very nice ones.
Apr-03-10  ounos: In retrospect, opening the file with 21. ...dxc4 seems very suspicious.
