Honza Cervenka: Much better seems to be 43.Rgxe3 dxe3 (43...Qxb6 44.Re8+ Rxe8 45.Rxe8+ Kxe8 46.a8=Q+ ) 44.Bxe3 Kg8 (what else?) 45.b7 etc. Kotov probably could save the game playing 48...Rxa7 instead of 48...Qxb4. Very complex and exciting fight!
Aug-28-07  wolfmaster: I agree,<Honza Cervenka>.
Feb-23-20  paulthebox: Also winning would have been 43. b7 Rxa7 44. Qxa7 exd2 45. Ra1 Rb6 46. Bc4 Rb1+ 47. Rxb1 Nxb1 48. Bb3 Be5 49. b8Q Bxb8 50. Qxf7 mate
