Nov-06-04  azaris: Miniaturized!
May-23-08  Zygalski: Fedorov simply played 100% best moves.
What can you do?
May-23-08  KingG: Well, when you are playing one of the world's greatest experts on the King's Gambit, plaing a dubious line like the Cunningham Defence probably isn't the best idea.
May-24-08  Zygalski: Nielsen could have tried 6...Bf6!? 7.d4 Ne7 8.Nc3 0-0 9.Bxf4 b5! 10.Nxb5 Ba6 instead, which gives plenty of counterplay. I think that the Cunningham is a very tough defence, but yes you are probably correct in that the key mistake by Nielsen was 1...e5 :)
May-24-08  KingG: <Zygalski> I think White has a nice game after 4...Bh4+. A better try is probably 4...Nf6.

After 6...Bf6 7.d4(7.Nc3 is also fine) Ne7 8.Nc3 0-0 9.Bxf4 b5 10.Nxb5 Ba6, 11.d6 cxd6 12.a4 has been recommended, although the simple 11.Kf2 Bxb5 12.Bxb5 Nxd5 13.Bg3 looks perfectly ok, and I don't see Black's compensation for the pawn, bad structure, and two bishops.

May-24-08  Zygalski: After 4...Nf6 I like Gallagher's line 5.e5 Ng4 6.Nc3 d6 7.exd6 Bxd6 8.Qe2+

FSR: No "A Pin, But Not a Safety Pin" today?
Jul-18-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: <FSR>,

Mahl nicht dem Teufel am Wand.

That's German for "Don't paint the devil on the wall".

Jul-18-21  Ironmanth: Great game in the King's Gambit!
