Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-10-19  choumicha: This game is mentioned by Emms in Play the Open Games as Black (What to Do When White Avoids the Ruy Lopez). He prefers 9...Nh5!?, keeping the e-file closed, as played f.E. by Yoos-Hjartarson, 1996, 0-1 (32). A bit to my surprise Emms prefers 9...Nxe4 10.Bd5!? over 9...Nxe4 10.Re1 (and 10.Qe1 and 10.Qe2). His argument: 9...Nxe4 10.Re1 d5 11.Bd3 hxg5 12.Bxe4 dx4 13.Rxe4 Kf8 (. But why move the Bishop twice if there are pieces to develop? 11.Nbd2 to me seems all right.
