Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-06-04  Knight13: Good game.
Oct-20-04  InspiredByMorphy: 22.Rxg6 is a bold move ensuring the draw by stripping the Kings defense.
Mar-25-05  InspiredByMorphy: 21. ...Bf5 22.Rxf5 gxf5 23.Qxf5 f6 24.e6 Qe7 looks like it may have given black the advantage.
Mar-25-05  RookFile: I share the sentiment, Morphy....
Philidor knew when to bail out and
take the draw while the taking was
good.
Feb-12-08  just a kid: I think that White should keep playing on at move 22 than 22.Rxg6+

jnpope: Instructional game given by Philidor in <Analyse du jeu des Échecs>, 1750, pp83-87. Philidor does not identify either player.

NM JRousselle: The sacrifice at move 22 is not sound. Black's best defense looks to be 22 Rxg6+ fxg6 23 Qxg6+ Qg7 24 Qxe6+ Kh8. How does White hold the e pawn? Black appears to be winning in this line.
