Honza Cervenka: Keres was in huge troubles already in the opening. 17...Bf5, which not only returned a pawn but also allowed opponent's Rook to invade the 7th rank, was very hard solution. But alternatives did not look attractive, for example 17...Qa5 18.Bd5 Qd8 (with intention to cover f7 with Qd7 after eventual 19.Qb3) 19.e3! and black cannot play 19...dxe3? for 20.Bxf7+! Kxf7 21.Qd5+ Re6 (21...Be6 22.Rxb7+ ) 22.Rxb7+! Ne7 (22...Bxb7? 23.Qxe6#) 23.Rxe7+! Bxe7 24.fxe3! and white wins. Still I think that it was better with 19...Qd7 or 19...Be5 than the text continuation.

InspiredByMorphy: <Chessical> Glad to see your still kibitzing. Your posts are great. Out of curiosity, what is the correlation between E Varnusz and your post?

Chessical: <InspiredByMorphy> Thank you! Varnusz wrote a book "Selected Games of Lajos Portisch", and this is one of the games he annotates. It is a book that I recommend if you can obtain a copy.
Nov-05-09  AESTRADAR: 20,Dd1-b1! After the queen exchange it is not only block that deasappears but also the possibility of counterattack
