  Retireborn: 38...Kf8 39.Bg7 would be an amusing checkmate; Ree had to sacrifice the exchange with 36...Rxc6 to have any chance of surviving.

The really beautiful line is 36.Rd6! Bxd6 37.Rxd6 Kf7 (Bf7 38.Nd5 is no better) 38.Rxe6! Kxe6 39.Bd5+ Kd6 40.Nxf5+ Kc5 41.Bd4#
