  Fusilli: White plays passive, gets the typical d-isolated pawn, and lets too many pieces get traded. Kasparov could have won a pawn trading his bishop for the knight both in moves 35 and 36, but he doesn't want to give White any counterplay. Instead he keeps the pressure and breaks White's position a few moves later.
Dec-30-10  Llawdogg: I wish there was a feature on this website where every won game was, or could be, plugged into a chess engine and the win was demonstrated to checkmate in at least one main variation.
Apr-12-14  Chessdreamer: Kasparov's game score in Chess Informant 30/530->...53.Ke3 a6 54.Rc3 Rc4 55.Rd3 0-1.
Mar-28-17  zanzibar: Here's a picture of the game after 1.c4:

You can see Kasparov really hunkering down to formulate his reply.

  Retireborn: Nice picture. Presumably that's Balashov and Tarjan sitting next to them. I haven't seen a picture of Tarjan before (Chessbase doesn't have one either.)

Googling Tarjan brings up a few pictures from this Olympiad, I particularly like this one:-

What if that phone started ringing though :)

Mar-28-17  zanzibar: <RB> if you scroll about 1/2 down batgirl posted an unusual photo of Tarjan here:

And here's maybe another photo, not so often seen:
