Mar-01-06  Jim Bartle: How about 17. Bh6 followed by Rf3?
Premium Chessgames Member
  ToTheDeath: Interesting suggestion Jim. 17. Bh6 Ne8 18. Rf3 Bb4 looks better for Black at first glance, but after 19. Nd5 Bxd5 20. exd5 e4 (20... Qxd5 21. Raf1 is good for White) 21. Rxf7!? Kxf7 22. Bh5+ Kg8 (not 22...g6 23. Rf1+ is crushing) 23. Bxe8 we have a crazy game. 23... Bf8 and then 24. Bf7+!? Kh8 (not .... Kxf7 Rf1+ winning on g7) 25. Be6 with a nice position for White but nothing too concrete. Definitely better than the game, of course.

Apr-27-12  screwdriver: I guess white didn't want to have a slow death, being down 2 pawns with no real future.
Oct-09-16  MrJafari: Wasn't 36th White move a (bad) mistake? What was his plan?

Arnason had no good defence to his opponent's idea of ....g5 and ....Kf6, when Black is threatening to capture the pawn at d5 with (as a friend used to put it) congressional impunity.
