Feb-28-06 | | alexandrovm: 19. Nxc7 very nice and unexpected.
I don't really understand 21. Nf6, maybe is the same idea as before, white can make the move Rd8, trying to win material or the queen. Black seems to defend well and later falls with a final attack of queen and rook. The king is exposed, nothing he can do... |

Mar-27-09 | | arsen387: What a great tactical game by Garry!
Nxc7 and Nf6 are great moves. If after 19.Nxc7 black tries Qxc7, then they'll get immediately killed with 20.Rd8+!, e.g. 20.Rd8+ Bf8 21.Qxc7 Rxc7 22.Bxe5

and black's position is ridiculous, while white simply threatens Bc4 mating. Another great shot is 21.Nf6!+, with the idea that if Bxf6 22.Bxf6 Rxf6? then Rd8 wins the Q And all this was wrapped up with a pretty mating net in the end. Bravo Garry! |

May-11-24 | | Cecco: In some comments the move 19. Nxc7 has been praised. Now, of course the whole game is worthy of a future world champion, but if one finds himself in that position, what move can seem better than one that recovers a pawn, attacks a rook and allows the installation of a knight on d5 with attack to the queen? 21. Nf6+ was also praised, which, unlike the previous one, actually appears to be an exceptional move. But even in that position an incomparably weaker player (like me) would have fared admirably by playing, for example, 21. b3, which is even considered stronger by this engine. |

May-11-24 | | goodevans: Either <42.Qg4> or <43.Qg4> would have led to a quick and simple mate. Strange that Garry should miss both. |

 | | Teyss: "Yo Adrian, I did it!" is heard in Rocky 2 released two years after the first movie, which slightly reduces the impact of the pun. BTW it's really "Adrian" not "Adrienne", that's how I learned it's a gender-neutral name. Not a big fan of the Rocky series anyhow, in the boxing genre I much prefer "Raging Bull" and "The Set-Up". Re. the game, it's funny how the a2 and b2 Pawns are sitting there en prise for a long time but Black can never take any of them, and when he does it's too late: as soon as the WQ is on the 7th rank, the threat Rd7 is too strong and if ...Rf7 to counter the battery, Rfd1 reloads. For memo WC U17 was an ephemerous format from 1977 to 1980 before U16 was created and later on U18. Kasparov finished third with 8/11 (Jon Arnason won but he didn't have a comparable career). |

 | | HeMateMe: The first Rocky movie was good. After that they just whore'd out the franchise, made money. The first movie in the reboot, starring Michael b. Jordan as Apollo Creed's son was ok, managed to capture a little of the spirit of the first movie. |
