Sep-25-08  Woody Wood Pusher: Karpov crumbled the Berlin Wall here, if only GK could have done the same...
Sep-25-08  Petrosianic: Both hands on the keyboard, Woody. When even Karpov games start giving you a woody for Kramnik, it's time for some saltpeter.

  fredthebear: Was it the saltpeter?

Woody made 6,000+ posts in less than a year's time (no easy feat), and then collapsed before Kramnik's WC rematch: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World...

Bobby Fischer (1943-2008) left the world that same year. Anthony Miles passed early (1955-2001).

Long, long-time members Gypsy and Petrosianic live on!

Mar-13-24  Adenosina: Happy to see that still in 2020s people are still commenting this not-so-known games :)
Jan-04-25  KingsRedAceDefense: Karpov has a <My Best Games>, boasting a trinity of words which aptly describes itself, and it provides quite some piquant reading. It's according to a look into it via the Progress in Chess Edition that I have in my hands (my book is labeled with "Edition Olms" and shows a nice illustration with Karpov in purple attire & in a state of serious pondering) that the written-in-bold game text included 42. Ra7 1--0. Whether that short inclusion, being a small detail, goes toward warranting a change in this web page's text is just a notion I'm tossing out here.
