Jan-23-05  azaris: Shades of brilliance from Petrosian. 23...cxd5 24. Rxc8 Rxc8 25. Rxc8+ Qxc8 26. Qd4 f6 27. Qxd5+ Kg7 28. Qxe4 collects the material back with interest.
Jul-09-09  ToTheDeath: Beautiful positional play against the hanging pawns and a pretty "petit combination" to wrap up the game.

profK: Petrosian certainly had Hort's measure. I would be a bit embarrassed as black at being truly clobbered in this one !!

kingscrusher: At move 22 it seems Petrosian missed Nxd5 - perhaps he was thinking too positionally to miss this more technical trick. Switching attacking to the c8 rook as a micro-downside compared to a grander dark square strategy seems a bit pedantic. But it is also pretty effective it seems.

kingscrusher: BTW it is not technically "Hanging pawns" that black had in this game because of the pawn on the b file. For "Hanging pawns" both files adjacent to them can't have fellow pawns.

22. N:d5, I'm curious whether you considered 22 ... f5 and if so, what your refutation was?
