Dec-16-05  AlexanderMorphy: this is a good marshall gambit example...spassky played really well, he was probably at his peak during this period...if i'm not mistaken
Sep-10-09  newzild: Yeah, a tough fight!
Aug-08-11  Ulhumbrus: After 17...c5 Spassky manages to use his King's Bishop to defend his King side by means of the manoeuvre Bb3-d5-g2 (ie 18 Bd5 and 20 Bg2) This suggests that Black is advised to play the move ...c5 in a way which does not allow this manoeuvre. In the game Fischer vs Spassky, 1966 when Spassky played the pawn advance 15...c5, Fischer did not have available the manoeuvre Bb3-d5-g2 in reply.
Apr-09-15  A.T PhoneHome: It's a shame Geller wasn't such a good match player; then again, had he been, Spassky might've not become the World Champion! Too bad we can't have it both ways. Geller was like Spassky plus opening theory but he wasn't necessarily such a natural talent. Geller was very strong tournament player though.
Apr-09-15  Howard: Check out the Spassky-Geller match from 1968. Kasparov analyzed one of the games in his MGP. W
Apr-09-15  A.T PhoneHome: I will later; like I said I am going through Spassky's 400 Best Games collection. :P
Apr-09-15  Howard: Is that a book or is a Chessgames list ?
Apr-09-15  A.T PhoneHome: <Howard> Game Collection: Boris Spassky's 400 Selected Games here it is. It's missing game 52 but regardless, 399 games right there!
