May-10-04  ughaibu: This one needs a closer look. Is it my imagination or is the Samisch particularly vulnerable to positional queen sacrifices?
May-11-04  ughaibu: Bobotsov vs Tal, 1958 Spassky vs Bronstein, 1956 Korchnoi vs Geller, 1963 Any others?

Benzol: In the Bobotsov Tal game these two get a mention R Beyen vs G Klompus, 1968 and Zamikhovsky vs Nezhmetdinov, 1956. There is also a Larsen game but it's not a Samisch.
May-11-04  ughaibu: Thanks Benzol.
May-11-04  Benjamin Lau: It's not your imagination at all. In fact, there are some lines in the KID Samisch where a queen sacrifice is considered book- that is standard play. K Mertine vs S W Ruthen, 1993 Spycher Bernard vs Jeroen Piket, 1986
C Gustavsson vs U Bode, 1993
A Schneider vs Ciornei Dragos, 1993
A Mastrovasilis vs G Theodorakopoulos, 1996
Karpov vs Myrvold Torben, 1991
for instance. Click "games similar to this one" for more.
May-11-04  Benjamin Lau: Of course it depends on what you mean by sacrifice...
May-11-04  ughaibu: Thanks Benjamin, the Spassky-Bronstein line seems popular.
May-11-04  ughaibu: In all of these except Korchnoi-Geller black initially only gets two minor pieces for the queen, I consider that a genuine sacrifice.
Jul-07-15  zydeco: It was probably very good psychology to sacrifice against Tolush - he seems to go to pieces without the initiative: 27.h5? 33.Bxh7+?
Apr-18-24  FearNoseAll: i have no idea what is going n here
