Feb-13-04 | | capanegra: This is the game I’ve mentioned. It is very interesting to see the way Fischer first close with his pawns the ♔ side, then the center, and finally sets his artillery over the ♕ side and dismantles black’s defense. Splendid demonstration of positional play by the American prodigy. |

Oct-04-04 | | refutor: the caro at its worst, space-wise :) i think kagan could've pulled the trigger on ...d4 at some point. |

Dec-15-05 | | joelsontang: in "my 60 memorable games", bob fisch says he tried 7.P-R3, B-B4; 8.B-K2, 0-0; 9.0-0 QN-Q2 against larsen and black got a satisfactory game! did fischer 4get his writing? |

Apr-28-06 | | Ulhumbrus: Kagan may have offered the f7 pawn on purpose by 12...0-0-0. Instead of taking it, Fischer declined it by advancing a Queen side pawn by 13 a4 and then castled on the king side by 14 0-0. |
|
Apr-28-06 | | Cyphelium: <Ulhumbrus> Obviously, Kagan did offer the f7 pawn on purpose, since 13. ♕xf7? ♖hf8 14. ♕xe6 (14. ♗e3 is no better) 14.- ♕xf2+ 15. ♔d1 ♕f3+ is dead lost for white. |

Mar-04-07 | | HannibalSchlecter: With the kingside all locked up Fischer could attack the other guy's king on the queenside with no worries whatsoever. |

 | | Phony Benoni: click for larger viewWhy not <33.a6>? It's a question worth thinking about. Of course, White's position is so good that he hardly has a bad move. (He could helpmate himself in three, but that would take some serious work.) The fact is that 33.a6 or 33.Rc1 or 33.Nc1 or just about any other reasonable move will do the job. White wins as he pleases, and 33.Nc1 was the move that happened to please Fischer that day. This is not the situation where one needs to spend time and effort straining after centipawns to find The Best Move. |

Jul-17-13 | | RookFile: Right, it's not like putting the knight on c5 (which Nc1 begins) would have been terrible either. |

Jun-13-14 | | sicilianhugefun: Bobby Fischer conducted the queenside break like a modern-day engine. |

Aug-29-16 | | Howard: The excellent book Learn From the Legends says that Kagan lost on time---is that true? Mueller's book doesn't state this--but, then, in the final position it didn't really matter. |
|
Mar-29-22 | | Justin796: Fischer has a lot of great little games like this that aren't against top 5 opponents but still admirable. |
