Jan-10-07  Ulhumbrus: One justification for 3..f5 is that White has played 3 f4.
Feb-05-07  tonsillolith: Why is 29. Bxc6 better than 29. f8Q+?
Feb-05-07  nescio: <tonsillolith: Why is 29. Bxc6 better than 29. f8Q+?> It isn't, but White threatened Bxc6 already at the previous moves, so to me the move seems justified. Winning are 25.Bxc6 and 27.Bxc6. Also consider 28.Rxb7
Feb-05-07  RookFile: It's all good, white is completely winning.

HeMateMe: this game doesn't look like Fischer's style--the opening seems specualtive, indicating a comparatively weak opponent. Maybe Vister is one of the many strong players churned out by Yugoslavia over the years, strong enough to get invited to a tournament with Fischer?

keypusher: Meralco is the Philippine power company that sponsored a series of opponents against Fischer.

keypusher: See this long and informative post by joecapablanca (but it doesn't mention Vister).

R C Balinas vs Fischer, 1967

Mar-20-16  Mudphudder: 28.Rxb7 was definitely the better move that Fischer missed here. This move would have triggered a complete mating attack. Surprised Fischer opted to play otherwise.
Mar-20-16  Granny O Doul: Quibbling about how White chose to finish after 25 here is as meaningful as critiquing the manner in or speed with which he reset the pieces or rebagged the set. Or whether and how he appended the hook to the "one" in marking the result of "1-0".
Mar-21-16  Mudphudder: No one is quibbling. In case you haven't noticed, people on this website are constantly finding improvements to grandmaster games...yes, even the winning ones.

kingscrusher: <HeHateme> Fischer did play a similar opening in this game later in a Simul:

Fischer vs Haves, 1970

It is an interesting approach for a non theoretical debate against the Caro-Kann defence. I am thinking it might be useful to try this out in bullet and blitz chess at least :)
