Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-05-06  Sleeping kitten: The young Jeroen Piket met Botvinnik some years ago and showed some of his games to the old master. Botvinnik then spoke of his youth games.

"Am I to understand you are unfamiliar with my game from the 1927 Soviet Metal Worker's Championship?" he said.

And he showed this game, of which he was somewhat proud.

Mar-31-08  KingG: So this is the famous "Soviet Metal Worker's" game? I had never known which on it was before.
Apr-24-11  BobCrisp: Here's somebody else who didn't know the game: Botvinnik vs Kan, 1945

According to <Soltis>, this event was the <Metallurgists' Trade Union Championship> of 1927/28. 'Metallurgy is distinguished from the craft of metalworking.'

Apr-25-11  sevenseaman: Its a game to be proud of. Botvinnik has played well.
Apr-25-11  Marmot PFL: <And he showed this game, of which he was somewhat proud.>

Looked routine to me. Black's didn't put up much of a fight.

Sep-14-14  peirce: The game where , according to Botvinnik,
´Everything resolves around the b-pawn passed´.
It is something worthing to be said , it makes thing meaningful.
