  TheAlchemist: A beautiful game by Stoltz. He was constantly trying to exchange Queens against Spielmann, a notorious attacker, who, probably because he wanted to attack, didn't want it.

In the end, Stoltz "sacrificed" his Queen, only to convert later into a winning endgame. I think had Spielmann traded Queens, it would have been an easy draw (Bishops of opposite colour).

Maybe the tournament table dictated Spielmann had to play for the win.

May-21-12  Cibator: Spielmann could have had the win all right. Stoltz's 17th was a terrible howler, permitting 18.Rad1! when Black is either mated at d8 or loses bucketloads of material. How old Rudo managed to miss that obvious shot I guess we'll never know.
