Sneaky: I find it interesting that White has no problems with accepting doubled pawns after 5. ...Bxf4 or 6. ...Bxf4

I suppose the reason is, after exf4 and g3 it will be almost impossible for Black to play ...e5, and Black's Queen's bishop will live a very sheltered existance.

Mar-23-02  knight: The half open e file available to his rooks is also a plus factor for white if black exchanges on f4.
Mar-29-02  kibitzical: The only reason he moves the bishop to g3 when he does is he got tired of waiting for black to help him out there and he wanted to put a pawn on f4 anyway!

Sneaky: LOL yes I agree, don't wait for your opponent to help you out, the good ones tend to be very unreliable in that regard! :)
Feb-06-25  stone free or die: This is the oldest <PotD> that I could find (is there an older one?)
