Penguincw: Maybe Anderssen's age affect the outcome of the game.
Mar-16-22  Stolzenberg: 11. Ne2 or 11. Ba3 are the main lines.

28. ... Nxg2 was deadly.

After 30. ... Rxe5, with an exchange and 2 pawns down, it was time to resign.

As 39. Rxg5+ hxg5 40. Qf1 Rg2 would have been hopeless, Anderssen allowed his opponent a mate in 1.

Great game by Neumann!

The top of the table after round 7:
Neumann with +5 =1 -1 ahead of Anderssen with +5 =0 -2 followed by Blackburne, Paulsen and Winawer with 4,5 points each.

NM JRousselle: I don't think Anderssen's age was the issue here. He did win the tournament.

Anderssen might have gone wrong with 16 Bd5. This move lets his opponent remove a key attacking piece--White's light squared bishop.
