Aug-29-08  Udit Narayan: Dazzling final moves from Anand!!!
Mar-11-20  fisayo123: Looked like good opening preparation by Anand. Anand just won't let Sokolov castle here. Constantly poking and prodding and unsurprisingly, black crumbled under the pressure.

I don't think that opening preparation played any special role here. Sokolov did not play the opening well, already 8...a5 is a rarity (8...Ng6 is standard continuation), though not unseen, nor unplayable (see Tartakower vs Sultan Khan, 1932 for an example), and all his plan starting with 10...Bg4 seems to be misguided. Anand then outplayed him but it was not a matter of opening preparation.

Btw, Anand missed a pretty tactical shot, which could lead to quicker win after 22.Nxe6 Qxe6 23.Nxd5! cxd5 24.Qb5+ with next 25.Qxc5 +-.

Very well spotted.
