Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-27-08  Jack Kerouac: Playing for the draw, as it were.
Interesting to note, it was about the time of this game, 1986, I was sitting at a local chilli-dog house in Oak Park, Michigan. Sitting next to me at the counter was Ben Fiengold and I knew who he was though I didn't say anything to him. He was hardly a well known chess player at the time, but both of us being Michigan players, I knew who he was and that he was prpbably the best in Michigan at the time. There's my Ben story.
Mar-27-08  Jack Kerouac: That's Fine-Gold.
Mar-27-08  Hinger: Ben Finegold is a true ambassador of chess. He is always willing to answer any and all questions, play a game w/ anyone, and the best chess teacher/coach in Michigan. I would like to see ICC have him doing more analysis/commentary on games/tournaments.
Mar-27-08  mistreaver: Hmm isn't here after 61... Kxa1 62 Kc1 e5 zugzwang for white?
Mar-27-08  Shams: <mistreaver> nope, stalemate is inevitable. white will mark time with Kc1-Kc2 and after black locks up the kingside pawns he will push the e-pawn, forcing fxe3 and stalemate.
Mar-27-08  mistreaver: Oh yea what a shame i missed Kc2 >>>___<<<
Dec-18-09  Jack Kerouac: Okay. now it's 2009. And Ben is a grandmaster. Bit too many chilli dogs, though.
Dec-18-09  Deus Ex Alekhina: <Jack Kerouac> What's the name of that chili dog place in Oak Park? Is it kosher? I have two draws with Ben in tournaments - but it was in 1980 & 1981 when he was 11 - 12 yrs old.
Mar-11-10  elohah: Gold Coast Dog?
