Dec-31-05  aw1988: Just a fantastic combination. Play it through slowly; the moves will seem strange, but look at d5.
Dec-31-05  HannibalSchlecter: Awesome! I can't help but notice just about every Lev Alburt game that gets kibitzed on here he becomes a human punching bag. Just coincidence I guess since he's a GM.
Feb-28-06  n30: d6 is awesome. would make a nice puzzle.
Feb-28-06  AjedrezVasco: There's a problem with that puzzle, n30, 15...♕xd6 is by no means forced and a blunder. After 15...cxd6 16.♕d5 ♗b7 things are still not clear.
Feb-28-06  n30: AjedrezVasco: Yes, I agree. Not forced and not clear. OK, nevertheless, since the puzzles are capitioned "finding the best move" I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a 'better' move for white at this stage, or maybe I should say a stronger "trap"?
May-21-09  dwavechess: 14/19 concur with Rybka 3 at 3 min. per move for Vasiukov

profK: Black wastes time with 7...a5 and b6 is not the best way to develop the bishop. ...h6 and ...Be6 is much better.
Jun-19-16  greengo: 15...Qxd6 was a blunder. Had black captured with the c-pawn, he would have maintained equality.

He wasn't at the time. This game was played in 1972. Lev was awarded the IM title in 76 an GM in 77. So he was a rising younger star in 72. Yea he got pummeled good in this game but he took the beatings and fought back, improved, and has a few impressive wins in his collection.

perfidious: To even qualify for a Soviet final, one had to be, at minimum, IM strength; that Alburt was awarded the title only in 1976 was likely due to the lack of international opportunities. Had he lived elsewhere in Europe, Alburt would have had no trouble making IM earlier than he did.
