Mar-16-22  Brenin: I love the way White finishes with the normally counter-intuitive idea of offering a Q exchange while attacking and down in material.

al wazir: <Brenin: I love the way White finishes with the normally counter-intuitive idea of offering a Q exchange while attacking and down in material.>

But when you have two connected passed pawns, the exchange of queens is not exactly counterintuitive.

Mar-16-22  andrewjsacks: Good pun.
Mar-16-22  Brenin: <al wazir>: I did write "normally". What amuses me about this game is how White's Q sits serenely on d2, watching her underlings torment Black, while Black's Q is forced to scurry about on the back rank. As soon as the latter comes out to c6, she is forced by Qc5 into a fatal exchange.
Mar-16-22  goodevans: Good game. Even better pun.

Teyss: Good pun but "A Safety Pin" would have been better.
After 26...Qxc5 (0-0 27.Rxe7 transposes) 27.Bxc5 0-0 (what else?) 28.Rxe7 White has two strong connected passed pawns as pointed out by <al wazir> (SF +2.6 at 39 ply).
Mar-16-22  paavoh: Didn't we see multiple puns on "safety pin" recently? Let's not go there again, please...

Check It Out: Thats why the safety pin joke is funny...we never want to go there again.
Mar-16-22  Nabbat: Wow, the knight sac, and the bishop pin was just amazing, and I love how white finishes it off, by forcing a simplifying queen exchange that leads to a completely winning endgame.

dheilke: I think it's funny that Black resigns, whereas the full engine line of resistance carries on for another 82(!) moves.
