Honza Cervenka: Typical game for Alekhine. Deadly initiative from the beginning to the end.
Apr-24-07  chocobonbon: Black never crossed the frontier but was continually pressed into passivity. Alekhine was 52 at this time but played with the energy of youth.
Feb-20-12  master of defence: What happens after 31... Qxe5 or 31... Qxf5?
Feb-20-12  AlphaMale: As <Clubber Lang> succinctly puts it: <PAIN!>

  Sastre: 31...Qxe5 (31...Qxf5 32.Bxc6 Rb8 33.Qd6) 32.Bxc6 Rb8 33.Bf4 .
Apr-05-12  Anderssen99: Sastre, a small correction. (31....,Qxf5. 32.Rf1!,Qxe5. 33.Bxc6,Rb8. 34.Rxf8+!,Kxf8. 35.Qd8+,Kf7. 36.Be8+,Kg8. 37.Bg6 mate). A picturesque mate for sure - vintage Alekhine.
Oct-31-16  sfm: What a beautiful murder! No mercy from his old teacher.
Oct-31-16  morfishine: Good Gawd, what powerful play

Obviously, there must be an improvement somewhere for Black. Allowing 20.Nb5 showcases Black's positional weakness(es).

I guess I will file this one away as a "Positional Crush" and call it a day

beatgiant: Black's play from around moves 10 to 15 leave White with a big stranglehold on the center. How about 10...b6 to avoid that?
