beatgiant: Alekhine's plan of attack based on the exchange sacrifice by ♖x♘f3 does not look justified here. Perhaps he was looking for complications because White's control of the center is so strong.

The position seems to go bad for Black from the early opening. Does this refute Black's 6...e5 ?

Maybe 8...♕d6 9. ♗xf6 gf 10. e4 f5 , immediately challenging the center, is a better try, although it looks like Black would end up with weak light squares after 11. ef ♗xf5 12. ♗d3 .

Maybe a slight improvement for Black is 15...g6 followed by 16...♗g7 so the pieces don't get in each other's way as much, and to give better support to the eventual break with ...f5 .
