  fredthebear: In the final position, inserting 34...Rf5 to protect the passed f3-pawn backfires on Black. 35.RxRf5 gxRf5 36.Nc5# takes advantage of the pinned b6-pawn. So 35...Kb7 avoids checkmate, but 36.Rxg6 allows White to keep both rooks and round up the kingside pawns w/a far superior force remaining.
