Jul-27-09  WhiteRook48: that black rook's play was too idle... although the white one's wasn't that good either

plang: 12..Be7 was new; 12..Bc5 and 12..Be6 had been played previously. It is not clear what Korchnoi's idea was in playing 13..h5?!(after 9..h6); Adams recommended 13..g5 14 Bb2..Rg8 15 Nd2 with a normal White edge. Perhaps 29..c5 would have been a better defense though, by that point, White's advantage was evident. 39..Ne8 would have avoided the exchanging combination that Adams initiated with 40 g3. 47..Rb3+ 48 Rd3..Kb5 49 Rxb3..axb 50 Kd2..Ka4 51 Kc1..Kxa3 52 Kb1 would have been winning for White.
