Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-11-04  Knight13: This game is slow. What I mean by slow is that Black and White isn't making much progress in the middle game.
Nov-08-06  M.D. Wilson: Slow? Chess isn't always about quick and easy development. This is strategy at work, Alekhine style.
Apr-01-11  M.D. Wilson: I entirely retract my previous comment about this game; this isn't the best game in Alekhine's collection, that's for sure.
Feb-20-13  Anderssen59: A lovely finish is: .....,Kxh7 (Of course .....,Rxh7. 64.Qxf6+ mates) 64.Rxf6+ Kg8. 65 Rg6+ Kh7 (.....,Kf8. 66.Qh8+ Ke7 67.Re6+ Kd8. 68 Qxe8 mate) 66.Rg4+!! (Faster than the beautiful: 66.Rg7++ Kh6. 67.Qf6+!! Rxf6 68 Rh7 mate) Kh6. 67.Rh4 mate.
May-12-15  A.T PhoneHome: Games like this are probably a basis for the claim that Alekhine liked to have many pieces on the board.

It's move 63, yet both men have four pieces each. Of course this isn't universally how Alekhine played his games.

May-12-15  Howard: Fischer made that comment about Alekhine, in his controversial list of the 10 greatest players of all time.
May-12-15  Howard: If I may ask, ATPhoneHome, what do you do for a living ? You certainly seem to have plenty of time to play over chess games.

Just wondered..

May-12-15  A.T PhoneHome: Who says I am doing anything for my living? :P I still live with my parents; 21 years of age doesn't have to be the age for leaving home.
Mar-29-18  anjumskhan: Lesson learnt : Shifting of King to Queen side.
Nov-23-23  Octavia: 63. # in 6
Nov-23-23  whiteshark: The Steinitzian way of winning
