Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-29-05  lopium: Alekhine played very well, very nice end and middle and beginning.
Feb-18-14  Poisonpawns: I dont like blacks early engagement with the Queen on move 4. It is fundamentally suspect. Simple 4..0-0 must be correct.White was clearly better in the opening after 14.Be3 .Instead of 16.Bd3 however,Bb3 staying on f7 diagnal and not blocking the d file is better;if 16..Nd7 17.Qh5 keeps the fire burning for White. Alapin was too ambitious in playing 17.f3 and 18.g4.The game eventually levels out, but gradually Alekhine outplays his opponent.
May-23-20  seneca16: Alapin's play looks very unprincipled and reckless.
