Woodpusher: A duffer or weak chess player.

Zeitnot: Having very little time on the clock to complete the remaining moves of a timed game. Synonyms: time pressure and time trouble.

Zugzwang: The obligation to move, when any move at all will be bad.

Zwischenzug: An in-between move. For example, instead of re-capturing, a check may be given first.
