European Club Cup (Women) (2017)

The 22nd European Chess Club Cup for Women was a 7-round Swiss System team tournament held at the Avantgarde Hotel in Göynük, Antalya Province, Turkey, 8-14 October 2017, with the participation of 12 clubs from 8 countries. Of the 51 players, there were 5 GMs and 11 IMs. Each match was played over four boards, with 2 points for a team win and 1 point for a draw. Time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 more minutes till the end of the game, with 30 seconds added per move from move 1. First prize: 3,000 euros. Chief organizers: European Chess Union and Turkish Chess Federation. Tournament director: Ozgur Solakoglu. Chief arbiter: Tugan Unal.

Nona of Batumi, Georgia (Dzagnidze, Harika, Batsiashvili, Khotenashvili, Melia) won on tiebreak ahead of Odlar Yurdu (Mamedjarova, Fataliyeva, Mammadova, Balajayeva, Hojjatova), both with 11/14. Bossa Nova (Zhukova, Badelka, Zaiatz, Stetsko) was 3rd on tiebreak with 10/14.

Maria Manelidou is a Women FIDE Master born in Georgia, raised in Greece and currently based in London. In recent years she has focused more on teaching chess than on pursuing her tournament career. She found Chess Rising Stars London Academy.
