Jun-01-08  malthrope: Ah, I see what I missed with this fast pace madhouse just Ne1+ at the end there and I don't think we can trap the knight... What do you think? :)
Jun-01-08  Kapell: I think after 48. ...Ne1+ white is lost. Knight and four pawns vs rook and pawn is ugly, isn´t it?
Jun-01-08  Kapell: I mean 46... Ne1+
Jun-01-08  malthrope: Yes <Kapell> - the question is - is the knight in trouble? If it is he loses and if not - I'll take the Knight and the 3 BIG pawns! ~lol~
Jun-01-08  Kapell: malthrope, I think the knight escapes and then it is 0-1!
Jun-01-08  malthrope: <Kapell: malthrope, I think the knight escapes and then it is 0-1!>

Yep it the knight cannot be put in the 'danger zone' then it's bad for Vishy. :( He had 8 minutes (at that moment) so I assume he looked at it... And, decided it was losing. ;)

Jun-01-08  Kapell: Well, great exhibition. I´m leaving now. Thanks everybody, especially you, malthrope. See you soon!
Jun-01-08  malthrope: Take care <Kapell> - I'll see You when the <Chess monster Chucky> plays at Aerosvit! :^)
Jun-01-08  dx9293: <square dance: ok, so in 2008 we've got kramnik losing multiple games with white and anand putting up minus scores in rapid. i wouldnt have put those two items on a hypothetical 'things that will happen in 2008' list.> LOL!!

The field in Foros should be afraid...very afraid...Ivanchuk is "on" again...

Couldn't agree more <dx9293> ! :)

It's going to be very, v-e-r-y, VERY interesting! Chucky is so 'HOT' atm, I could cook 'bacon & eggs' on his Chess tourney nameplate! ~lol~ ;))

The field at Aerosvit Foros:

Ivanchuk (the Defending Champ!) plus Carlsen, Svidler, Shirov, Karjakin, Jakovenko, Alekseev, Eljanov, Volokitin, Nisipeanu, Van Wely & Onischuk.

You really don't want to miss this one! <grin>

Jun-01-08  square dance: thats an awesome field in aerosvit. with so many great tournaments happening there shouldnt be much for chess fans to complain about. im sure we'll find something. ;-)

Hehehe... So true <square dance> ! ;)

Plus, another 'Hot Shot' is Moro playing at the 'Chess Giants' in Yerevan. Which also includes Aronian, Leko, Adams, Gelfand, Bu, Akopian & Sargissian! The Chess 'fun' just never ends! :^)

Jun-01-08  syracrophy: With so many shaming loses of Anand I must assume that this tournament is of rapid play.
Jun-01-08  hedgeh0g: <syracrophy>...but Anand is arguably the strongest rapid player in the world.
Jun-01-08  chessmoron: Anand hasn't shown that he is. He did not in Amber nor here.
Jun-01-08  hedgeh0g: Not currently, true. But based on previous results, he has shown that rapid play is his domain.

I just thought it strange that somebody would assume that Anand of all people would rack up a string of losses in a rapid tournament.

Jun-01-08  square dance: <Anand hasn't shown that he is. He did not in Amber nor here.> anand is the strongest rapid player of all time. end of story.
Jun-01-08  yalie: Anand is going to lose rapid games this year - the last thing he wants to do is show his prep for the match. Having said that, a couple of those losses were fugly ..
Jun-01-08  sheaf: what ?? i didnt expect this!!!.. not like this i mean.. loss in 16 moves and then getting busted from the white side of najdorf!!!

<rapid chess> anand is the greatest ever rapid chess player we have seen... nobody has shown the kind of dominance he had shown in the rapid chess ever..

having said that ivanchuk is playing the best chess of his life in last few months mtel masters and even some of his games at the amber tournament were unbelievable.., so i guess anand shouldnt be too disappointed by the performance.

Jun-02-08  malthrope: First a few selective quotes...

He not known as the "Lightning Kid" for nuthin' ! ;) To put this all into perspective...

This is a very useful <Rapids Ratings> list that Stefan Fischl maintains (credit to <percyblakeney> for first pointing this out to me a few years back). It's now updated from 2000-2008.

Performance in rapid games (up to 31/03/2008): http://members.aon.at/sfischl/rapid...

It clearly shows that during this period that Anand is truly on <'Top the Heap!'> ;)

At any rate, this was indeed Chucky's day! :)) His one bad game in this Rapids match-up was in game #2. However, Vishy had two bad games in game #1 and game #4 (possibly a mishap in game #3 as well but I'll wait to see some concrete analysis). That was big difference on this day! ;)

Go Chucky! :))

  WannaBe: rapid...
Jun-05-08  hedgeh0g: Which is "dipar" backwards.

Which would sound like "diaper".

If it were a word.
