Format: First player to five wins, draws not counting, is the victor.
Purse: 100 francs. "This match was played at the Café de la Régence. The victor had to have won five games, and the time was unlimited. The duration of the longest game was about four hours. M. Neumann, the victor in this match, received a prize of one hundred Francs from the Commission ." (1) The winning purse was about £1,400/$1,700 in today's value. Source
