Mar-23-10 | | sdrumovic: I think Romi also played in the B tournament in Hastings 1927/28. Does someone have the ranking or the crosstable? |
|
Mar-23-10 | | TheFocus: <sdrumpvic> I have it at home; at work now. I can post Hastings B 1927/1928 tomorrow if no one else does. |
|
Mar-24-10 | | sdrumovic: I am also looking for data from tournaments Romi/Romih played in Paris in 1922, 1923 and 1924(2). Thanks to anyone who might be able to provide information. |
|
Mar-25-10 | | TheFocus: <sdrumovic>
I have the cross-table for Paris 1924. This is the preliminary # 9. I do not have the final. 1. Palau X 1 1 0 .5 1 3.5
2. Romi 0 X 1 .5 1 1 3.5
3. Skalicka 0 0 X 1 1 1 3

|
Mar-25-10 | | TheFocus: <sdrumovic> Please go to www.thechesslibrary.com for all of the preliminaries and finals of Paris 1924. |
|
Mar-26-10 | | sdrumovic: Thank you TheFocus. I knew thechesslibrary.com, but I just missed this Paris 1924 torunament. |
|
Mar-26-10 | | sdrumovic: Well, on second check, I didn't miss it: it is the Olimpic tournament and I already had data on it. But there's another 1924 Paris tournament Romi played in, presumably a 9-player event won by Znosko-Borovsky. I have no cross-table for it, or other relevant info such as dates. As I mentioned on the Yanofksy pages, I'm collecting this material for a soon-to-be-opened project of the Italian Chess Federation on old italian tournaments and big tournaments played by italians abroad. Material can be sent to the address given in the Games Archive page (top of the page, just under the banners):

Thanks to anyone providing help. |

Mar-26-10 | | Calli: You probably refer to the Winter Tourney of the Palais Royal Chess club held 1923-1924. It was ten players and won by Amedee Gibaud. Romi finished 7th. Palais Royal Winter Tourney (1923-24)

|
Mar-29-10 | | sdrumovic: Thank you Calli for the crosstable and TheFocus for all the help. Of the 1923-24 tournament I was already able to build up the ranking from the index (available in the net) of Gaige's crosstable book. The same index points to a different Paris 1924 tournament (p.653), other than the one Calli reported and other than the Olimpic one: the one won by Znosko-Borovsky. |

Apr-01-10 | | sdrumovic: Well... what can I say? You all are just great.
I will abuse of your kindness and ask for data about Bromley 1925, an event with 4 qualification groups and a final won by Mattison. Romi won the B-final. I have the crosstable of the A-Final only and I'm looking for the crosstables from the B-Final and the qualification groups. |
|
Apr-01-10 | | TheFocus: <sdrumovic> I still haven't entered the Hastings B yet, have I? I hope to tomorrow. The Bromley should be in British Chess Magazine, I have it. |
|
Apr-02-10 | | Calli: "Bromley 1925, an event with 4 qualification groups and a final won by Mattison. Romi won the B-final." There were four preliminary groups of 8 players each. The four man group you have is probsbly the final played among the four winners. Romi and Matisons were in the same preliminary and both had 5 pts, but Matisons won their individual game and thus the tie-break to move on to the final. I hsven't the time to enter it right now. Can do it tomorrow if still needed. |
|
Apr-03-10 | | TheFocus: <Calli> Go for it. I won't be able to input the tables until Monday. Yes, there was only Final-A. There was no Final-B.
Hastings B 1927/28 definitely on Monday. |

Apr-06-10 | | sdrumovic: Thank you all. Now I miss a crosstable from Paris 1922, an 8-player event won by Muffang (Romi 5th). |
|
Apr-11-10
 | | Phony Benoni: Di Felice gives this as:
Palais Royal Winter Tourney
Paris, 1922-23
1 Muffang * = 1 1 0 1 1 1 5.5
2 Bienstock = * 0 1 1 = 1 1 5.0
3 Kahn 0 1 * 0 1 1 1 1 5.0
4 Gibaud 0 0 1 * = 1 1 = 4.0
5 Romi 1 0 0 = * 1 0 1 3.5

7 Goubeau 0 0 0 0 1 0 * 1 2.0
8 Lazard 0 0 0 = 0 0 0 * 0.5
Not one of Lazard's better events. I wonder if the draw with Gibaud lasted four moves. |
|
Apr-19-10 | | sdrumovic: In my research on Romi's career I have now encountered Hyeres 1926, a 10-player event with Janowski a.o. Can anyone provide a cross-table? Thank you. |
|
Apr-19-10 | | TheFocus: <sdrumovic> Go to www.chesshistory.com
Click on <Chess Historians' Essential Links> Scroll down and click on <Historical Photographs> You will find hundreds of cross-tables there. Hyeres 1926 is there. |
|
Dec-10-11 | | wordfunph: Romi finished dead last with +1-11=3 in San Remo 1930 :( his only big win coming from Rudolf Spielmann..

May-22-16 | | TheFocus: Happy birthday, Max Romi. |
