I didn't necessarily take the engine's first choice, but instead tried to keep my suggestions in line with your style and the flow of the game. 3. I think you could accelerate the development of you pieces a bit. You often played good moves, but delayed by a move or two. At move 15, for example, click for larger view you played <15...Bf5>. Some alternatives were <Re8> protecting the bishop and getting on the e-file (this is a common move in some variations of the French), <Rc8> getting on the c-file, and the French-inspired <Qb6> pressuring <b2>. Another option here is <15…Bb4> with <16…Ne4> to follow. This was an engine suggestion and takes some calculation to see that Black eventually picks up the <d4> pawn when the smoke has cleared. 4. I have a new category of <annoying moves>. You could, for example, have played <20…Qa5> with ideas of <...Bd2>. click for larger view 5. I used to play a lot of correspondence chess through the mail with the USCF, and even achieved a master rating, but when computers came along I pretty much stopped playing correspondence chess.
